Conflict affects people's lives in many ways. Whether it be a dispute between neighbours, within the family or at work, conflict damages our health, our relationships and our lifestyles. It may leave us feeling upset, frustrated, powerless or angry, and may even lead to physical violence.
Mediation is a way of turning conflict into something positive. Here at Resolve we aim to help people find their own solutions to the problems they are experiencing. Resolve is an independent charity consisting of a team of mediators who work across the whole of Berkshire and Oxfordshire, as well as three staff members based in Reading.
Whether you are in a dispute, interested in training or wanting to refer cases to us, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us using the contact information on this website. The site, although in its infancy, hopes to offer information that may be useful to you.
New Training Dates Announced!
We are now able to offer Community Mediation Skills training this autumn
(2012). Our course will help you develop the skills, knowledge and
personal attributes to become a community mediator. You will learn how
to deal with conflict better - at home, in the workplace, in the
community.
Our course starts in September and runs for five weeks. It involves two
full training days each week. The start date is 11th September and it
finishes on 10 October. Training days start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at
4:30 p.m.
Our training is delivered in our training room here in Reading, at our offices at 13, Boult Street, Reading RG1 4RD.
Resolve has devised a highly successful and practical course which gives
you all the skills to get started as a mediator. We are able to offer
those who successfully complete the course the opportunity to work with
the Resolve mediator team as a supervised trainee, which can lead to
paid sessional work.
The course is externally accredited through the Open College Network
(now part of Laser Learning Awards) and is recognised by mediation
services throughout the UK. The course fee is currently £995 + £55
registration fee with the Open College Network.
